How to Unlock Your Family’s Genius is a new book about education and family and the second in the Genius series by the award winning writer David Simon, founder of Ebony Education.
This engaging book explores educational issues amongst the Black communities around the world and documents Simon’s twenty-two year journey as an independent educationalist that has now seen him provide educational opportunities to thousands of African-Caribbean families using a philosophy that Ebony has developed through working with many disadvantaged families.
David Simon is the author of the novels Secrets of the Sapodilla (1986) and Garvey’s Last Soldier (1999). He is the winner of the Peterloo Poetry Award (1990) and his play Mountaintop (1993) was nominated for a London Fringe Award. David was awarded the 2002 100 Black Men Community Award .
He is the founder of Ebony Saturday Schools (1987), which won the CARAF Supplementary School of the Year Award 2005 and won the London Schools and Black Child Conference Supplementary School of the Year Award 2006. David was formerly deputy Head of Basic Education at a London further education college before becoming a full-time writer and educationalist.
