Diahanne Rhiney, CEO and founder of 15 degrees ltd has been shortlisted for the Service Business of the Year Precious Award 2010. 15 degrees ltd was set up 16 years ago in order to target a niche in the market which did not have a core focus of diversity. As a diversity marketing and PR agency, 15 degrees targets audiences which cannot be obtained from general day-to-day marketing and PR and use a variety of resources to ensure that client expectations are fufilled.
Already in receipt of a everywoman Athena Award 2009, the Precious Awards provide another opportunity to show what 15 degrees has to offer, especially as being a women of colour, there are times when opportunities are not as prominent.
Speaking in regard to being shortlisted, Diahanne said, “I am honoured that our agency has been shortlisted for a Precious Award, as from keeping my ear to the ground, I have been made well aware that the competition is tight this year. If we do not win, I would still be honoured to have been involved with such strong business recognition for women of colour “.
Diahanne has always had a strong association with promoting women from within her culture and set up the Women of Colour Media Group (WoCMG) in 2009. The group was formed as a means of showcasing the talented women of colour who reside within the media industry. In taking small steps, the WoCMG will be a global group to help raise the percentage of women of colour working in the media industry.
