Chanté Nwel’, A French-Caribbean Celebration Of Christmas
London’s French Caribbean community organises an evening of live performances and workshops to celebrate Christmas in the tradition of the French-speaking Caribbean islands.
Artists from the group Zil’Oka, in partnership with BsB, propose to the general public dance, drums and singing workshops to discover centuries-old rhythms and traditions that are unique to that part of the world. Authentic French-Caribbean dishes and drinks will also be available.
Programme: Saturday 14 December 2013
– 5pm: storytelling for children
– 6.30pm: danse workshop (adults)
– 7.45 and 9.45pm: Caribbean Christmas carols
– 9pm: Raffle
– 11-.11.45pm: « lewoz » by Zil’Oka (danse and drum improvisation)
