Back in the Day: Reggae vibes and memories with David Katz

Description: Author and journalist David Katz will discuss his books Solid Foundation: An Oral History of Reggae and People Funny Boy: The Genius of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, in an illustrated reading featuring the music covered in those books.

Further musical support will be provided by fellow journalist Angus Taylor, playing original reggae vinyl style. Time allowing – There will be opportunities to ask questions and share your own anecdotes of back in the day.
Rye Wax bar and Taco Queen food facilities available. Signed copies of books available on the night.

Born in San Francisco but long resident in London, David Katz is author of People Funny Boy: The Genius of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry; Solid Foundation: An Oral History of Reggae, and Caribbean Lives: Jimmy Cliff. His writing and photographs have appeared in many international publications and he has annotated over 100 retrospectives of Jamaican music, while his Dub Me Always reggae vinyl nights are a regular feature of London’s musical landscape. www.davidkatz.net.tf
