I am Getting There – gospel musical comedy court room drama from Alan Charles
From the writer and producer of Love Sax and that Jazz comes Alan Charles 1998 gospel musical comedy court room drama stage play ‘I am Getting There’. The play tells the story of a young man with a malign and rather dubious past. Looking for meaning and direction for his life Jermaine Mitchell is invited to board the Inter-Life Shuttle (the church) which is destined for the kingdom (heaven). Once on board he is exposed to the obstacles, hurdles and milestones that the Glory Bound Train passengers must tackle and overcome.
It’s a hard and tiresome journey and Jermaine has his own personal battle to fight, namely to secure the right to stay on board the Glory Bound Train. With calls for him to be expelled Jermaine must prove that though he’s not where he should be, with God’s grace he is getting there. But can a leopard change his spots; can an old dog learn new tricks? Everyone deserves a 2nd chance but what about 5th and a 6th?
Can he convince the court that he is worthy?
Is he really getting there?
Will the train get there?
Through songs, poetry, rap, drama and dance, the Glory Bound Train will take you on an experience of a lifetime and a journey you will never forget.
Featuring: Lloyd Reid, Colin Burton, Jasette Amos, Lesley-Ann Miller, Angela Blake, Eugenie Burton, Alison Mark, Adrian Betton and Rohan Alexander.
