Ralph Pollard Bajan Fine artist
Ralph Pollard is a Fine Artist who uses various techniques including Acrylic on Canvas, Pen, Watercolour and Photography. His style is predominantly abstract.
Mr. Pollard was born in Barbados and migrated to the UK in 1960 as a young man. He studied and worked as a psychiatric nurse in Epsom/Surrey, after which he decided to go to the kitchen. He became and still is a very fine culinary artist, having risen through the ranks to Executive Chef status in very well accredited catering establishments in Europe and the Caribbean. Ralph is well known in Barbados as a top TV Chef and Radio presenter.
Pollard has been painting since his Thirties but has dedicated more time recently to his Acrylics. His early work is mainly watercolours, pen and ink using predominantly Reds, Yellows and Greens (Pontilism). His art sheds light on his deep political convictions of rights and justice for the underprivileged and the disenfranchised.
His deep religious beliefs also come to the forefront more often than not in his applications.
