About Croydon Steel Orchestra
Croydon Steel Orchestra is a steel band based in the London Borough of Croydon. The steel band is available to hire for: concerts, fetes, fairs, weddings, parties, fundraisers and other functions. The band can be hired as a trio, six or ten piece right up to a full orchestra (50+ players and instruments).
The orchestra was formed in the summer of 2000, after the Croydon Schools Steel Orchestra came to an end. The orchestra consists of musicians from two regional area steel bands in Croydon: New Addington and Woodside. The orchestra’s musical director is Paul Dowie and is responsible for the musical arrangements. The orchestra has two managers who are responsible for bookings and general administration. They are Sue Moore (Woodside Area Band) and Jo Hussey (New Addington Area Band).
