The Grenada Benevolent Society UK
The Grenada Benevolent Society UK is a non-profit charitable organisation which was founded by Mr Christopher Quashie in 1966.
The Society’s main aims and objectives are:
To promote any charitable purpose for the general benefit of the nations of the islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, West Indies and descendants residing in the United Kingdom (“the Community”) in particular but not exclusively: the advancement of education, the preservation and protection of health, the relief of those in need and the relief and prevention of sickness.
To collect and disseminate information on all matters affecting the purposes of the society and establish, print, publish, issue and circulate such papers, journals, magazines, books, periodicals and publications as shall be necessary to attain the stated purposes or in any way beneficial to the work of the society.
To engage in fund raising activities for the on-going development and support of members of the community and for meeting expenses which are necessary or incidental to the operation of The Society.
To raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person, persons or corporate bodies by way of subscriptions, donations and otherwise PROVIDED that The Society shall not undertake any permanent trading activities in raising funds for its primary objectives.
To grant sponsored scholarships to inhabitants of the Community for primary, secondary and higher education in the West Indies and the United Kingdom.
To provide or assist in the provision of exhibitions, meetings, lectures and classes.
To generate and promote a spirit of comradeship and unity amongst members of the community residing in the UK and thereby to provide the means for continuing the fellowship which members enjoyed as part of the community in the West Indies.
To promote and support all matters affecting the social, cultural, economic and educational development of the Community.
