At Nottingham Playhouse Wellington Circus, Nottingham, NG1 5AF In the new ‘Watch this SPACE’, area on the cusp of the Playhouse’s CAST bar
You will be able to experience a highly original, visual experience of Caribbean culture in a truly unique and entertaining way at Nottingham Playhouse. Catherine Ross, Founder and Director of SKN Heritage Museum, tells her story of coming to the UK from St Kitts as a 7-year-old girl.
You’ll be able to discover Catherine’s first impressions of the UK, after making the 6,504km voyage from the Caribbean in 1958, including what it was like going to school, making friends, playing in the park, living in a
2-up-2-down house, seeing snow for the first time, riding on a double decker bus and more…all when you look so different to most of the people around you.
Enjoy Catherine’s tales, groan at the misunderstandings she experienced and laugh at the adventures she shared.
This is a unique opportunity to hear a moving, poignant and highly relevant migration story through the eyes of a child – in a way that will delight children and adults alike. So bring your friends and family of all ages with you to this completely FREE exhibition event.
