The ‘Dance Off Awards’ 2007 19th May 2007 Ocean Music Venue, Hackney, London
May 19th sees the UK’s first ever Dance Off Awards ceremony, this annual event will celebrate and award the achievements of street dancers in the United Kingdom. The event is produced by Solutions@Gem in association with Snas Productions and its aim is to showcase both established and emerging talent from around the country.
A televised event held in front of 1,400 people at the trendy Ocean Music Venue, London, the Dance Off Awards is an evening of high energy, raw talent and cutting edge performances.
The night will be hosted by the lovely Su Elise (Misteeq) and the funny man Richard Blackwood (Choice FM) and there will also be a number of names on the night to present awards including, Kat (MTV), Dwayne & Royston (Just Fabulous TV), Jasmine Dotiwala (MTV), Phoebe One (Choice FM), Melvin & Ricky (Kiss FM), Rachel Williams (Miss Black Britain), Kojo (Best Black Comedian of the Year), Donatella (Sky TV), Leon Lopes (Hollyoaks) and performances from Jai Amore (MOBO Best Unsigned 2006), Soundbwoy Ent (UMA Best Newcomer) and some of the most dynamic artists to be hitting the UK music scene! With even more names to be announced in the next coming week!!!
All nominations are open to the general public via the ww.dance-off.com website. The deadline is 13th April, once the nominations have been counted and verified the final nominees will be announced at a press launch on the 1st of May. Please see below for a list of the award categories.
With artist such as Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Ciara, Misteeq and the legendary Michael Jason, all using choreography and dancers to intensify their videos and stage performances it is no wonder that an awards ceremony is being launched to recognise the contribution street dance makes to the music industry and selling of multi-platinum selling albums.
The first of it’s kind this is a fantastic and unique opportunity for the entire dance community to nominate who they think have shown outstanding commitment to the trade.
