Brixton Nine Project | Black Mystery Month Competition
This Black History Month 2014 sees the launch of an engaging and interactive art initiative by designer and graphic artist, Jon Daniel.
His latest piece, ‘Brixton Nine’ uses his trademark, bold iconographic style to pay tribute to nine Black cultural figures, which are associated with Brixton.
Participants are invited to enter a prize draw that provides the opportunity to win an exclusive framed 70 x 100cm artwork of the piece, by naming all 9 figures depicted.
The competiton initiative entitled ‘Black Mystery Month’ is being supported by Brixton’s local newspaper, the Brixton Bugle, who will be running an article with the competiton entry form and a complimentary ‘cut out and keep’ version of the artwork for their readers.
Black Cultural Archives will be exhibiting the artwork on site in their headquarters in Windrush Square, Brixton and will also serve as a dropping off point for all entry forms (as well as being the perfect place to do your research to help identify the subjects in the picture).
And Colourful Radio, the UK’s only African Caribbean-owned radio station will provide additional airplay to further boost awareness of this great initiative.
