Top restaurants and clubs to visit on your holiday to Barbados
A recommended guide to top restaurants and clubs to visit on your holiday to Barbados.
Known worldwide for its beautiful beaches, white pristine sand and azure colored waters is Barbados, homeland of pop-star Rihanna and the vacation haven to the world’s biggest celebrities including Simon Cowell, Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce and Jay-z. But this island has more to offer than just sun, sea and sand, it abounds with exciting nightlife and entertainment and there is really never a dull moment there.
You can find Barbados’ most popular nightclubs in St.Lawrence Gap and along Bay Street with DJ’s and live entertainment throughout the week. Music is a mix of the latest hits at Harbour lights to 100% reggae at Reggae Lounge.
Here’s our guide to the top restaurants and night entertainment on this island paradise.
Champers
Located on the South Coast of the island, Champers is the ideal place for casual dining. Experience a night of Caribbean romance at the waterside in its Gazebo or Open Terrace as you feast on a sumptuous meal along with delightful desserts, like my favorite Warm Bread Pudding With Bajan Rum Sauce & Ice Cream. The décor is vibrant and lively, a true reflection of the Bajan people and culture and it is also disabled friendly.
The Cliff
True to its name, this top rated restaurant sits sublimely on a cliff overlooking the gorgeous platinum coast of Barbados. It offers a menu and wine list that has titillated the taste buds of the rich and famous who many times arrive in their yachts and make their way to the charming seating area where every table is candle lit. The dress code is elegantly casual and it is strictly enforced.
Harbor Lights
Looking for a party spot where you can enjoy the pulsating rhythms of soca, calypso and reggae from a live band, coalesced with some tropical cocktails, entertainment from the amazing fire eaters and stilt walkers and the lithe bodies of limbo dancers? If so, Harbor Lights, an open air beach front nightclub is the place to be. Loosen up and enjoy the culture, food and beauty of the island under the stars and on the beach.
St. Lawrence Gap
It is the gap that never sleeps and a hub of entertainment with a variety of nightclubs, hotels and restaurants lining both sides for your selection. You can slip into the Reggae Lounge which offers some of the most unique and cultural entertainment or perhaps eat at one of the fine dining restaurants. If you are not up to that you can always roam the long stretch of street and sample the local food from the vendors plying their trade or even say a prayer in the church snuggled in the midst.
Oistins Fish Fry
Of course, one could never talk about night life in Barbados and not mention the transformation that takes place in the fishing village of Oistins at night. The place is filled with hundreds of visitors and locals alike, jamming and gyrating to the sweet Caribbean beats. It is where people of different countries, cultures, races and languages all meet to savor the local delicacies prepared right before their eyes. Its and informal and rustic affair and a visit to Barbados is never the same without this experience.
