Merseyside Black History Month Group Hosts Annual Cultural Food Feast

On October 25th 2014, Merseyside Black History Month Group will be hosting the Annual Cultural Food Feast at the Palm House in Sefton Park, Liverpool.

The free event, which has been running for 10 years, continues to go from strength to strength and sees upwards of 5,000 people attend throughout the day. “It’s main focus is to promote the delights of cultural food and entertainment”, says Clint Agard, Chair of Merseyside Black History Month Group. “More than 30,000 people have attended over the years and it has given more than 30 local caterers the opportunity to promote their traditional cuisine and diverse music to a wider audience”.

This year’s event, which is primarily sponsored by a number of housing associations and groups, will see a series of honours given out to key people who have contributed to the betterment of the black community on Merseyside and/or are shining examples of excellence, strength and commitment. Also at the event there will be live performances by MOBO Winner and Mercury Nominee, Terri Walker, acclaimed reggae-roots artist, Natty and exciting new Afrobeat sensation, Moelogo, alongside Liverpool soul star KOF and rapper Aydoe.

A number of free activities are also available for children and families, including storytelling, cake decorating, arts and crafts, photo booths and free makeovers.

The Cultural Food Feast has been artistically directed by Yaw Owusu, who is the current Curator for the Liverpool International Music Festival. The event runs from 13:00 until 18:00.
