Bellevue was built between 1735 and 1750 and is thus one of the first plantation residences on the island. The original house was constructed in ‘Caribbean Georgian’ style, an expression coined to describe the many tropical adaptations to classic Georgian architecture that is unique to the West Indies.
The House was purchased in 2008 by the current owners, British developers Paul Andrews and Simon Briggs, who have sensitively refurbished the House combining informal modern luxury with the grand style and gracious living of a bygone era.
The House is ten minutes from the beach and local Holetown with its excellent shopping and dining options and lively nightlife, and an inexpensive and comprehensive bus system offers a novel and appealing way to explore the area.
In addition, guests of Bellevue Plantation House are invited to access the facilities and services of the island’s exclusive Apes Hill Golf Club, and separate private beach clubs Aquamarine Radisson and Port St Charles, located ten minutes from the House.
Infused with history, charm and authenticity, Bellevue Barbados offers guests more than an just a villa holiday in the Caribbean – it is relaxing, inspiring and unforgettable experience, especially for guests celebrating an important occasion such as wedding, special birthday or anniversary.
