Advice for the Young at Heart – new play by award winning writer Roy Williams
A new play by the writer of Sucker Punch (Royal Court), Advice for the Young at Heart tours to venues and schools as Theatre Centre’s 60th Birthday Tour. The play text will be published by Methuen this September.
A new play by Roy Williams, commissioned and developed by Theatre Centre, will tour to ten UK venues this autumn. Brindley Arts Centre (Runcorn), Greenwich Theatre (London), The Garage (Norwich), The Hat Factory (Luton), Mumford Theatre (Cambridge), Norden Farm (Maidenhead), The North Wall (Oxford), The Octagon (Bolton), Redbridge Drama Centre (London) and Riverhead Theatre (Louth) all feature on the tour schedule, as do forty secondary schools as part of Theatre Centre’s mission to improve young people’s access to professionally produced plays for young audiences.
It’s 2011 and 1958: London is rioting. Candice is ordered by her gang-leading boyfriend to lure Clint into a honeytrap. Haunted by her grandfather’s mistakes, she stands at a crossroads. Will she do as she’s told, or will she learn to be true to herself before history repeats itself?
